Adinkra 2-Piece
In this craft-based project, I explored Ghanaian Kente fabric in depth for the first time. Kente is a traditional West African textile, known for its vibrant colors and complex woven patterns with symbolic meaning. Traditionally, it is wrapped around the body or used for simple garments.
For this project, I designed a two-piece look consisting of a corset-inspired top with an open back and a skirt with a simple lacing. In addition, I used gold wire to freely shape abstract forms on the corset. By combining these elements, I intentionally broke with the traditional use of Kente, creating a modern reinterpretation that reflects my experimentation with form, materials, and personal expression.
